As director of Alongside’s Washington programs, Kara leads work that helps youth find lasting family connections and supports families exploring ways to provide a stable, permanent home. Her team also works directly with young people through In-Depth Profiles® and provides guidance and resources to child welfare professionals. Kara works closely with community and agency partners to strengthen services for youth and families.
Kara joined Alongside in 2025, bringing 13 years of experience in the child welfare sector. Her background includes foster parent recruitment and training, case management, permanency planning, and family court. Before moving to Washington, she worked in the field of foster care in New York City. She holds a master’s degree in social work from Hunter College.
Kara believes youth should remain at the center of all we do at Alongside. She values the opportunity to help connect young people with safe, loving, permanent families.
