AdoptUSKids

Since 2003, Alongside has partnered with AdoptUSKids and, more recently, the National Center for Diligent Recruitment to advance adoption and permanency efforts nationwide.
These US Children’s Bureau-funded initiatives educate families about foster care and adoption and provide technical assistance to child welfare professionals to strengthen systems and improve child and family outcomes.
In collaboration with a network of partner organizations and nationally recognized experts, we support these efforts through technology, child and youth profile narrative standards, and strategic communications.
The AdoptUSKids photolisting application is a national platform that supports adoption and permanency efforts in all 50 states, connecting child welfare professionals, prospective families, and state adoption leaders in one place. Alongside’s software development team designs, builds, and maintains the technology that powers the platform.
Alongside plays a leading role in improving profile narratives, helping advance more authentic, strengths-based, and youth-centered storytelling practices. In partnership with experts and stakeholders, we have promoted approaches that honor young people’s experiences and support meaningful family connections.
We create and implement communication strategies for families and professionals that use lived experience and storytelling to build understanding and inspire action. Our editorial approach elevates authentic perspectives from youth with foster care experience and from foster, adoptive, and kinship families, sharing both challenges and successes.
Through websites, email campaigns, blogs, and social media, we reach hundreds of thousands of families and child welfare professionals each month with information, resources, and stories designed to encourage engagement and support permanency.
