Oregon programs
Since 1999, Alongside’s Oregon programs have helped caregivers and youth build lasting family connections. Our teams provide support, training, and resources to foster, adoptive, guardianship, kinship, and birth families, as well as child welfare professionals and clinicians. Our Oregon work is funded by the Oregon Department of Human Services and private funders.
The Oregon Post-Adoption Resource Center (ORPARC)
ORPARC connects caregivers with resources, specialized support, and clinical services that promote healing and well-being for children and families. We work alongside families from adoption or guardianship preparation through finalization and beyond.
Our Oregon family support specialists help families navigate challenges, connect with resources, and access adoption-competent services. We provide post-adoption support to families who adopted an Oregon child, regardless of where they live.
ORPARC has one of the nation’s largest specialty lending libraries focused on foster care, adoption, guardianship, and kinship care. Oregon families and professionals can join the library free of charge and borrow books, videos, digital resources, and information packets that are mailed directly to their homes. The collection includes resources for caregivers, professionals, children, tweens, and teens, including Tribal, Spanish-language, and bilingual materials.
The Oregon team provides training and consultation to professionals, building adoption-competent, trauma-informed approaches that strengthen support for children, youth, and families affected by foster care and adoption.
Our innovative Neurofeedback Adoption Access Program provides free, specialized neurofeedback services to adoptive and guardianship families and adult adoptees in Oregon. This trauma-informed approach supports brain health, emotional regulation, sleep, and learning.
Oregon Adoption Resource Exchange (OARE)
OARE is a secure connection platform that supports permanency planning for Oregon youth in foster care. The site connects caseworkers with potential families who have stepped forward to support a young person’s permanency journey.
